Real Salt Lake fell to FC Dallas 2-1 in its second match of the Mobile Mini Sun Cup on Wednesday afternoon.
Sebastian Saucedo put RSL ahead in the 22nd minute when his curling shot easily found the top corner of the net after good pressure applied from Pablo Ruiz led to the turnover. RSL continued to press Dallas in the first half, nearly finding another goal in the 35th minute but Kyle Coffee was unable to turn the ball into the net as RSL took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Head Coach Mike Petke made no changes to his team at the halftime break, electing to keep his starting group in the match. The second half opened up much in favor of FC Dallas who found two quick goals to take the lead by the 60th minute. FCD drew level when Jesus Ferreira slotted home a breakaway in the 56th minute before Santiago Mosquera’s penalty put Dallas ahead in minute 60.
FC Dallas earned another penalty after Video Review in the 65th minute, but Nick Rimando was equal to the task, pawing away Dominic Badji’s penalty to keep the score at 2-1. A back-and-forth affair told the story for the remainder of the match as both teams jostled for possession with the match ending 2-1.
